Ashley Graham collaborates with the children of Pottery Barn to create fun and functional spaces for her children

Ashley Graham is more than just a model and entrepreneur, she is also the mother of three beautiful boys, 2-year-old Isaac and newborn twins, Malachi and Roman. As she approaches the birth of her twins in early 2022, she realizes that not only will she need to design a nursery, but since they’ve recently moved into a new home, it’s also time to update Isaac’s room. Graham and her husband, Justin Ervin, ended up collaborating with Pottery Barn Kids to create spaces that were not only stylish, but functional as well.

In terms of design, Graham wanted neutral spaces that featured pops of color including shades of blue and green to reflect her love of the natural world. Sustainability was also essential, so she chose it Certified Greenguard Gold Home furniture. This certification means that not only are the raw materials obtained sustainably, but the products are manufactured in a way that emits few volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which can be unsafe or unhealthy, especially for infants and children.

Graham was excited to create a beautiful room in which the twins would grow up. Like any second time mom, she had a much better idea of what she needed for nursery this time around. “I learned a lot about what you need in the nursery with Isaac, since he was my first born. It’s so important to create an environment that is both quiet and practical at the same time. She tells me that blackout shades are a must in the nursery.”

The model also realized that she didn’t have to design the room herself and that working with the designers at Pottery Barn Kids would make the process that much easier. “When we approached this new twin room with Pottery Barn Kids, we drew on their design expertise to ensure the pieces work coherently in the space and can be transitional over the years,” explains Graham. He needs all three children, which is no easy feat. The team was very knowledgeable in helping us identify our products.”

Even before the collaboration, she was already a fan of the brand. “I had a Pottery Barn Kids chair in Isaac’s nursery and knew I had to get a second chair in the twins room, because I spent so much time in it with Isaac while nursing, reading, and having fun.”
