Based in Wisconsin Blind Horse Winery It made history in fine wine and digital assets with the launch of its first NFT-labeled wine. In cooperation with vaporifythe winery has produced a 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon collector’s edition featuring an NFT label from the popular Bored Ape Yacht Club collection.
The Bored Ape in question was acquired by VaporFi in 2022 and exclusively licensed to Blind Horse Winery for this flagship release. Tom Nye, master winemaker and general manager of the winery, expressed his excitement about the project: “It is a product designed for the cryptocurrency and wine enthusiast, and for me it is the cornerstone of my collection.”
This unique blend is made primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon, with a hint of Malbec and Petite Verdot, aged for three years in French and American oak barrels. Retailing at $100, the wine-branded NFT represents the perfect marriage of the traditional and digital worlds, marking an unprecedented collaboration between off-chain and on-chain businesses.
With only 200 bottles of this special edition, wine and crypto enthusiasts have limited windows to secure a piece of history. Nye asserts that once wine is sold, it will not be reproduced: “When he’s gone, I’m gone.” He believes this project is more than just a collector’s item; It’s also a conversation piece that brings people together. He recommends buying two bottles – one for display and one to share with loved ones. “Wine is really beautiful on its own, but what makes it even better is everything that goes with it, and that is the food, friends and family.” explains Nye.
Crypto meets wine: Blind House Winery aims to revolutionize tradition
The partnership between The Blind Horse Winery and VaporFi was forged in March last year as the two companies sought to bridge the gap between the cryptocurrency and traditional business sectors. Nye said, “If you are into cryptocurrency, you know the importance of bored monkeys and that they have unleashed a non-fungible token craze.”
Innovation and risk-taking became hallmarks of Blind Horse Winery. Previously, the winery made headlines by becoming the first restaurant in the world to install lights in real time, killing COVID. Braving the unknown, Nye and his team look forward to their next groundbreaking endeavor, though the details remain uncertain.
As the first ever NFT-labeled wine, this unique blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Petite Verdot is sure to appeal to connoisseurs of fine wines and cryptocurrencies. It is a testament to The Blind Horse Winery’s commitment to pushing boundaries and exploring the unknown NFT Territoryand a shining example of what can be achieved through collaboration and innovation.
