Interoperable Experiences
Meta is improving and integrating its suite of immersive applications to keep pace with the latest technological advancements made by Quest Pro.
The Menlo Park-based company designs immersive navigation options that enable Meta Quest Pro operators to switch virtually between immersive applications instantly.
Meta, called the App to App Travel API, plans to distribute the update in late 2022, and it enables developers to design interoperable apps where users can quickly navigate between immersive services.
Meta uses a similar solution in its Horizon Metaverse app. The company allows users to navigate digital media Metaverse portals, providing instant access to Horizons Worlds, workplace and location; Three consolidated meta services in July.
In addition, the company offers the Meta Quest browser and Progressive Web Applications (PWAs) that enable headphone owners to use an overlay of 2D applications without leaving an immersive experience.
Major tech company Microsoft is also partnering with Meta to work on PWAs, integrating the PWABuilder developer tool as an easy way to start developing integrated 2D applications on Meta Quest Pro. Currently, Meta advertises a handful of PWAs, including Dropbox, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Coursera, LastPass, and Peacock.
Zuckerberg also announced during Meta Connect 2022 Zoom integration And a deep partnership with Microsoft to translate Windows 365 ecosystem Serving an immersive workplace.
Meta is also developing a Fitness API Beta for Fall 2022. The feature allows users to track real-time and historical fitness data, which developers can integrate into an immersive app to enhance leaderboards and progression-based gameplay.
Create natural and immersive interactions
Meta cannot develop its rich, interoperable MR services without a visual upgrade to add flair and immersion to its powerful APIs.
Meta Quest Pro offers a full color arcade of its MR experiences. Previously, Quest 2 only featured black and white pass-through for experimental features and accessibility.
The device also has a spatial acoustic system that enhances realism by simulating the echo and reflection of sound waves in a real location.
Meta greatly improves its avatars; After a successful launch during Connect 2022, the company is introducing a motion SDK that uses the Quest Pro’s eye, face and body tracking devices to create full-body avatars.
Motion SDK improves immersive communications by giving Quest Pro users an intuitive way to express themselves via gesture-based tracking and feedback systems—significantly enhancing the platform’s collaborative workplace goals.
MetaQuest Developer Center
The company is updating the Oculus Developer Hub 3.0 to the Meta Quest Developer Hub (MQDH) – reflecting the company’s rebranding and focus on developing MR experiences.
MQDH provides developers with the tools to create immersive Meta Quest Pro experiences, taking advantage of platform features such as full color traversal and the corporate presence platform, which supports real-time 3D color traffic (RT3D) graphics.
MQDH allows developers to manage device settings and manage files. The service also features a low-barrier drag-and-drop production pipeline for easy application testing and deployment.
In addition, the suite provides building blocks such as pre-made code to enable beginners to start creating new immersive multiplayer applications. Furthermore, the Meta Center contains spatial linking tools that allow people to interact with shared virtual assets in the same physical location.
A new Developer Center is landing just as Meta, and other Metaverse companies, are driving the digital economy based on user-generated content.
