NVIDIA Reveals Open Metaverse Tools at SIGGRAPH 2022

NVIDIA delivered a speech Tuesday at SIGGRAPH 2022, revealing a new suite of metaverse solutions to the masses, including virtual world building, digital twins, and avatar platforms.

in his speech, Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIAin a statement, the combination of artificial intelligence and computer graphics would “enhance the metaverse, the Internet’s next evolution.”

Users could join virtual worlds and digital binary assets for leisure and corporate use, he said, adding that his speech would “advance the metaverse”.

In Jensen’s speech, he announced several key techniques:

  • NVIDIA Omniverse Avatar Cloud Engine (ACE), available next year, for avatar creation and development, complete with chat AI and tools like Audio2Face and Audio2Emotion.
  • Description of the global landscape (in USD), an open source programming language from Pixar for the development of the Metaverse, and the creation of standards for interoperability
  • NVIDIA Omniverse Extensions for Building Interoperable Virtual Spaces and Digital Twins
  • New Machine Learning Powered Tools to Simplify Graphic Workflow

A Closer Look at NVIDIA Omniverse ACE

He added that avatars will remain effective in communicating with users in factories, gaming platforms and e-commerce spaces using natural language processingand computer vision and realistic face and body animations, all with “milliseconds” low latency performance.

Simon Yuen, Senior Director of Graphics and Artificial Intelligence at NVIDIAadded,

“With Omniverse ACE, developers can create, configure and publish their avatar app via any engine in any public or private cloud. We want to democratize interactive avatar creation for each platform”

The company’s Audio2Face will also build ultra-realistic avatars from just a single image, apply textures, and create 3D grids using artificial intelligence. The tool will also simulate the movements of the muscles and the texture of the lifelike hair.

Rev Lebaredian, Vice President of Omniverse and Simulation Technology at NVIDIAHis company’s next achievement, he said, is to “make the US dollar a real-time performer, large-scale virtual worlds and industrial digital twins” of global character sets, geospatial coordinates, and Internet of Things (IoT) data flows.

NVIDIA also plans to open a testing and certification suite for the programming language, along with a library of assets for industrial digital twins and AI-powered training workflows.

The Santa Clara-based company has announced updates to its Omniverse platform, complete with several major upgrades to core technologies.

Omniverse Connectors will also integrate with popular content creation platforms such as Unity, Autodesk Alias, SimScale, Blender, Open Geospatial Consortium, Epic Games and many others, as a beta version, and is currently working with Siemens Xcelerator To build industrial digital twins.

Several companies such as Adobe, Dell, Epic Games, Microsoft and Amazon Web Services piloted Omniverse at the event.

Seagrave 2022 August 8-11 and its world-class event concluded Thursday in Vancouver, Canada. Over 90 exhibitors in 16 countries.

Over 11,700 people joined the conference to experience new technologies, attend panel sessions, and access industry programs, both in real and in person. Companies such as Vicon, AMD, NVIDIA, Epic Games, CAPCOM, Google, Intel, Microsoft and many others attended this world-famous event.
