I’m still planning to add a file Checkerboard pattern on this concrete patio floor, but I can’t believe the difference this solid white paint has made! The whole space feels lighter and brighter. And just feel So new and very clean. 😉 This was such an easy project that I’m kicking myself for not doing it sooner!

When I finished painting yesterday, I briefly thought about not going through with the checkered floor plan. But I decided to move on just as quickly because I think the pattern would add a lot of life to the space, though I’m very happy with this solid white look now.
DIY details
I used this Porch and patio paint by Behr ….
…in this shade of white that has a warm gray undertone.
Preparatory work: Since this is not new concrete this patio is about 4 years old this concrete is so smooth all I did to prep was sweep and Power wash. If the concrete had a smoother, shinier finish, I’d have it engraved And also ready After electrophoresis before applying the coating.
Paint: I gave it two coats of paint though one coat provided really great coverage. Cut by hand with my favourite Angled brush and rolling with 14 inch cylinder with the pole extension Make this project a breeze.
This is an easy DIY to hit the weekend. I’ve painted and stained a concrete patio before, but no experience or expertise is required to tackle this. This is a very suitable outdoor project for beginners.
And the power of paint can’t be beat! Now…to define the shade of terra cotta that I want to create this checkered floor.
After staring at these swatches for days, I chose a color. And now, I’m going to go buy some more paint! I can’t wait to start this checkered floor project!
