The One Room Challenge, an online design challenge where you can completely transform a space of your choice in just 8 weeks, ended this week, and I might be the last participant to cross the finish line. But after finishing one last fun DIY project last Thursday, I’m finally ready to reveal my very own Plum Dandy Powder bath! I am very happy with the way you got it together. It feels classic and whimsical. And I’m so glad I decided (somewhat at the last minute) to jump into this challenge because it was just the motivation I needed to get in here and give this little bathroom a big personality!
The wall color (Sherwin Williams Plum Dandy) is so dainty! This is the first time I’ve used a color from the purple family, and it’s also the first time I’ve designed a space by choosing a paint color first.
I usually choose the paint color last. I usually start with an art piece or rug and then select the shade because it’s easier to match your paint color to your accessories than to find accessories that match the color. But in this case, I chose the color simply because I’ve been drawn to a deep plum shade lately, and I just knew my vintage gold mirror would look great against a plum background. And then, while I’ve been out of savings for the past few weeks, these two original art pieces and a perfectly sized throw rug jumped out at me!
I always felt this little bathroom needed a night light, especially when we were entertaining since it has no windows and is outside in a dark hallway. Plus, I very much love adding a lamp in the bathroom! But with a pedestal sink, I didn’t have the counter space to make that happen. So I brought this vintage plant stand, which I am using Battery operated bulb! No outlet needed, which I love so much!
I also love adding furniture to the bathroom. With this powder bath lacking in the storage department, I brought in another antique plant stand and an antique brass planter to hold extra rolls of tissue paper. Does anyone else have the slightest fear of running out of tissue paper at the worst possible moment? Don’t worry when you come to my house now. 😉
The top print was something I had already been incredibly talented with Laurel Donand I found this beautiful wood neck frame at Goodwill for $1!
As much as I love all the vintage accessories, the New wall colorThe Sheet metal roof A glass link chandelier, f Classic subway tiles I added to the wallsAbsolute the favorite Part of this bathroom is a makeover Strips I added to the back of the door!
This DIY project was a labor of love, to say the least, but so worth it! It’s a fun, unexpected detail! On the back of the door, this powder bathroom seems to have a secret.
